Delta USAVE/VR
Optical Barriers
With Separate Transmitter and Receiver
Detection of Hot and Cold Product

Application
The VE/VR optical barrier resolves all detection problems that may arise in the most diverse types of industry, for example heavy industry (steel), handling and transport. It is particularly recommended for highly reflective products where there is a risk of direct reflection of the light beam.

The use of visible emission greatly facilitates setting up of the barrier. Its rugged construction makes it ideally suited to any harsh environment.

General Descripton       Up
The VE is a self-contained emitter including:

  • a power supply unit with transformer
  • an optical unit equipped with light emitting diode
  • a circuit board for the emitter
  • connection via a terminal block with protective cover or via a connector

The VR is a self-contained receiver including:

  • a power supply unit with transformer
  • an optical unit equipped with a silicon photodiode and a red filter
  • an amplifier with output interface (solid state or relay output)
  • connection via a terminal block with protective cover or via a connector

Working Principle       Up
A beam of visible modulated light is emitted by the diode emitter towards the receiver. The beam is focused onto the photodiode which outputs an electrical signal to the amplifier circuit. Depending on whether the modulated beam is interrupted or not, the output is switched.

Modulating the emission and automatic correction for ambient light in the amplifier circuit renders the sensor insensitive to ambient light.

Special Features       Up

  • Visible red diode emission
  • Insensitivity to ambient light
  • A potentiometer for adjustment of the threshold of detection (located under the protective cover at the rear of the receiver)
  • A jack socket (under the protective cover at the rear of the receiver) providing an output of signal strength as an aid during alignment
  • An LED indicator showing operation of the receiver
  • Optional water-cooling jackets for use at ambient temperatures greater than 70°C (flow-rate 2 I/min)
  • Modular construction allowing rapid maintenance
