Working Principle
Up
The optical barrier
VL/VRG is made up of two self-contained units:
- The emitter VL
consists of a red laser diode, with optics
incorporated, which emits a beam of modulated
light towards the receiver.
- The receiver VRG
consists of a lens, an optical filter, a
photodiode receiver and amplifier circuitry to
process the photodiode signal.
The output changes state
depending on whether the modulated beam is interrupted or
not. Modulating the emission and automatic
correction for ambient light in the amplifier circuitry
renders the sensor insensitive to ambient light.
Special Features
Up
- Intense, highly
directive, visible red laser diode emission
- Insensitivity to
ambient light
- A jack socket (located
under the protective cover at the rear of the
receiver) providing an output of signal strength
as an aid during alignment
- A LED indicator showing
operation of the receiver
- Optional water-cooling
jackets for use at ambient temperatures greater
than 70°C (flow-rate 2 I/min)
- Modular construction
allowing rapid maintenance
- Optional features
allowing custom configuration for any application
