Z3
Static Hot Metal Detector
Detection and Follow-Up of Hot Stock
Application
Up
The Z3 captor is a hot metal detector used
in monitoring the presence of stocks over 400°C.
Presented in a resistant case, it is designed for use in
the arduous conditions to be found in the steel industry.
Introduction
Up
Z3 is a
self-contained sensor including:
- a power supply unit
with transformer
- an optical unit
equipped with a germanium receiving diode
- an amplifier with
either relay-operated or static output or
thyristor output
- a connecting unit with
either terminal plate or connector
Working Principle
Up
The radiation of the hot stock is focused
by a lens and then collected by a photo-electric cell
which is part of a
temperature-compensated opto-electronic bridge. The
current which then appears in the cell puts the bridge
out of balance and allows the detector to send out an
all-or-nothing signal when a product is within its
optical field.
Special Features Up
- Optical field: 15°
vertical, 4° horizontal
- External sensitivity
adjustment (located under the cover at the back
side of the apparatus)
- Jack-plug for adjusting
the aim (located under the cover at the back side
of the apparatus)
- Switching test lamp
- Hinged frontal section
which fold downwards in order to make cleaning of
the optical parts easier. This component is
equipped with an inlet for compressed air,
designed to keep out dust
- A cooling flange is
available, with a water circulation rate of 2
I/mn, for use when ambient temperature is over
50°C
- Modular construction,
allowing rapid maintenance
- Available with
thyristor output (2 wires), with power supply in
the range 80 to 250 V ~
