Z6
Static Hot Metal Detector
With Fiber Optic System
The Z6 is a
self-contained sensor complete with:
-
A metal-jacketed fiber
optic cable (with optional lenses)
-
A cast aluminum
housing containing the complete electronic assembly, power supply
with transformer, Ge photosensitive element, and amplifier with
either relay-operated or static output.
Application
Up
Sensitive to infrared radiation, the Z6 is a Hot Metal Detector for
material at temperatures at or above 500 oC. The special design
of this sensor and its rugged construction allow it to withstand the
severe environmental conditions found in the steel industry.
The
fiber optic permits detection of products, which are difficult to
detect (due to physical obstructions, space limitations, etc.) even in
areas of high ambient temperature.
Working
Principle
Up
The infrared radiation emitted by the hot product is received by the
fiber optic cable and transmitted to the photosensitive element. The
current produced by the photocell enables the electronic circuits to
deliver an all or nothing signal when hot product is in the field of
view of the fiber optic cable. As an option, a lens
assembly can be attached to the fiber optic cable to reduce the field
of view.
