Delta USADC 3000
Scanning Hot Metal Detector
Two Sensitivity Ranges:  400°C & 250°C

Working Principle

1. Scanning system:
The DC 3000 uses the well-known principle. The detection field is scanned by a rotating polygonal mirror. When the analytical beam of the sensor detects infrared radiation from a hot product within the scanned field, the reflection of that radiation by the mirror onto the measuring cell provides a signal which is processed and a logic state is output as long as the product is within the field scanned by the detector.

This principle benefits the DC 3000 with the following features:
  • A large vertically scanned detection field angle
  • A small horizontal field angle
  • A very precisely defined analytical beam

2. Choice of photocell:
The graph below shows a comparison of the spectral sensitivity characteristics for conventional photocells: Si and Ge and the photocell used for the DC 3000.  This technology is the optimal solution and allows detection at temperatures as low as 250°C.
